Who We Are

Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (SOYDAVO) is a local non-governmental organization (LNGO) with its headquarters in the city of Burao, Somaliland, and regional sub-offices in Hargeisa and Erigavo. SOYDAVO was registered in June 2006.

SOYDAVO is originally a youth-based organization and has retained throughout its years of existence the identity of promoting youth empowerment. 

SOYDAVO staff including the executive team is under 35 years old and comprised of both women and men as SOYDAVO enforces a strict gender equality policy in our recruitment and implementation process.

Where We Work

SOYDAVO operates in both Somalia and Somaliland with its headquarters in the city of Burao, Somaliland, and regional sub-offices in Hargeisa and Erigavo. 

Since its establishment, SOYDAVO has continued to implement projects in the areas of livelihood, peacebuilding, education, protection (GBV, child protection, FGM), WASH, and Culture. 

Thus, consequently SOYDAVO has developed a strong contextual understanding of the socio-economic issues in Somalia and Somaliland which are crucial for designing and implementations
of the projects.
