Project Objectives:
1) To contribute to the protection and promotion of Somaliland culture in Togdheer.
2) To foster initiatives aimed at creating jobs for youth and vulnerable groups in Togdheer Region and Burao.
Background
The project titled “Fostering Somaliland’s Heritage: Creating Links between Cultural Heritage and job opportunities for Peace and Cohesion in Togdheer Region” is a two and a half years project funded by the European Union.
The project has targeted directly the most vulnerable groups in Burao during the project period where 125 youths were trained on TVET skills, 150 women in small business management, and 100 young men and women in cultural and artists.
Additionally, SOYDAVO had been able to collect 6 material and 12 immaterial cultural heritage for the past 2 years.
During the project period, SOYDAVO has contributed to the protection and promotion of Somaliland culture in Togdheer by supporting youth in developing artistic talent thus contributing to the project’s overall goal of establishing sustainable income sources for women and youth through the use of culture and arts and to promote peace and well-being among the community in Togdheer and Somaliland in General.
