Graduation Ceremony held for 125 TVET Trainees in Burao

The students have completed Electricity, Tailoring, Henna and Salon and Masonry and Carpentry Skills. On top of that, the students have also completed two weeks of entrepreneurship and small business management training.
A highly organized graduation ceremony was held for the students. The graduation ceremony was attended by government ministers, high delegates from the European Union, Parents, Community Members and officials from SOYDAVO.
The Graduation ceremony was held in Kaafi Hotel Buroa and was opened by SOYDAVO’s Executive Director who welcomed the government ministers, delegates from the European Union and other honourable guests including the private sector.
All the guests have delivered their messages and congratulated the students for the completion of their training. Jane Rama from the EU has talked about the importance of SOYDAVO’s EU Funded project. She has explained how the TVET component is so crucial in ensuring that it contributes to the job creation of the youth in the Togdheer region. Jane has encouraged the students to take out of the benefit of this support and explore the numerous unexploited opportunities in the market.
The Vice Minister of Ministry of Planning and National Development Hussein Ibrahim Buuni has also made his speech thanking SOYDAVO and the EU for funding such important projects. He has ensured that the government will support the NGOs who are doing any work which is valuable for the people such this project of SOYDAVO.
Other guests including the private sector, parents and the Regional Education office in Togdheer region have also made their remarks. They have all ensured their support and encouraged SOYDAVO and the EU to engage similar other projects in the future.
The Minister of Employment, Social Affairs and Family Hinda Jama has also delivered the closing remarks of the ceremony. Hinda has emphasized the role of youth in society and the government’s commitment to ensuring that youth are provided with opportunities to better their lives. Hinda has thanked SOYDAVO and the EU for funding and implementing this project. She has also congratulated and wished success for the youth and their parents.
At the end of the graduation, the students have been presented to them a cheque worth 43,500 USD intended each to receive 348 USD. The cash grants were aimed to enable the youth to open their small business ventures in Burao.
Finally, the Jane Rama from the EU has visited the SOYDAVO’s HQ and Youth Vocational Center where they have witnessed the tremendous job that SOYDAVO is doing for the people of Somaliland. Jane has also monitored the collected cultural heritages in the centre.
