Human Trafficking Project

This is a one-year project funded by the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime – UNODC. The project commenced in November 2018 and will come to end in November 2019. The project will be implemented in all six Somaliland regions. The project team will be based in Hargeisa, the capacity city of Somaliland.
The overall objective of the project is to sustain a significant reduction in human trafficking in Somaliland through a holistic approach involving community members, national and district government officials.
The project is providing support to victims of human trafficking through the provision of services including psychosocial counselling, legal assistance, medical care and temporary housing services. Community-wide awareness sessions aimed to promote awareness raising on human trafficking are and will be conducted in target project areas through public gatherings, radio stations, and anti-human trafficking campaigns.
Complete referral mechanisms are established to support the victims of human trafficking with the support of the government and community members in target project areas. There is also 24/7 hotline number that was disseminated to all community members who live in the IDPs and the areas considered as a high risk of human trafficking.
